Learning 2.0 Throughout the World April 25, 2007

Google has a new tool called MyMaps, which allows you to create “personalized, annotated, customized maps using Google Maps.”

I’ve mapped the Learning 2.0 programs in the world so far, starting of course with the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, where Helene Blowers first created the program. See the map here.

One library district I did not include in the map is the Bayside Library Service. They do indeed have an L2 program; I just can’t find them anywhere on the map.

Suggestions? Additions?

Way cool! It’s so neat to see the growth. Thanks

Can you add California’s Infopeople Project’s program: http://our23things.infopeople.org/. Not sure where to put them since it’s a statewide program–Sacramento as the capital perhaps?

Thanks for the alert. I’ve added the program to the map.

Hi,

Can you add the Norwegian version: http://23tingom2null.blogspot.com/

Opening today!
Thanks!

Done!

Hi,

Cool map! Could you add “Herning Bibliotekerne” and “Randersegnens Biblioteker”? Together with Copenhagen Public Library they have started L2 in Denmark.
Present we are having two Kick Off days where we present “23 Things” (the Danish L2) to other library systems. More then half the Danish LS are interested and I expect most of them will start off later this year or early 2008. More libraries to add then ;-)
Is it possible to share a map or join two maps? If so I could manage the Danish (Scandinavian) part.

Can you add our programme to the map, under Auckland, New Zealand. We are hoping that the other libraries in Auckland will pick up the programme very quickly

Hii Minerva
This morning we have launched a NSW public library learning 2.0 program for the 97 library public services in this state.

Here is the web site http://nswpubliclibrarieslearning2.blogspot.com/

The list of public libraries who will be participating is available from here

Hello Minerva,
There is a growing list of libraries that are doing the program, but could you bring them together in one link: http://www.23dingen.nl
Thanks for adding us to your wonderful map!

Hello. We are about to start one implementation of this course on a national level here in Finland. Of course it isn’t trivial to represent an internet-course like this on a map ;) especially as we will be having participants from dozens of places around the nation, but if you add a pin to our capital, Helsinki, i’d be more than delighted. Our finnish website is at http://23asiaa.net.

Also, i know the city of Joensuu in eastern Finland has implemented this course, could you please add them plskthx? Their website is at kitavidi.blogspot.com (in finnish too).

13. Minerva - March 18, 2008

Hei, Mace! I’ve added both links; I hope the addresses were correct (or close). Kiitos! (That’s all the Finnish I know.)

14. mace - March 19, 2008

Thanks so much for adding us Minerva, yea!

Perhaps if i may suggest that the pin be moved from Helsinki City Library to “Opetusministeriö” (Ministry of education) which is closer to the truth. Well, they just fund the project, but like i said, it isn’t trivial to map virtual things on a map of the globe. In reality the course is held in the internet of course, and one cannot find that on Google Maps i’m afraid. We have a 2 people team working on the project, one person in Tampere, and i’m in Helsinki. Well, most of the time (f.ex. at the moment i’m in Stockholm, Sweden).

Our national project was published yesterday, and we already got the 80 participants registered. We didn’t expect such a success, but this is fantasic!

I instantly feel the global library-vibrations when looking at that map :) Helloes to all 23 Thingers around the globe!

Here’s a challenge: who will be the first to pick this up in Africa, Asia and South America?

Hello Minerva,

Found you! Can you add St. Maarten (DWI), still part of the Netherland Antilles on the world wide map from Google Earth? I’m teaching Philipsburg Jubilee Library after a train-the-trainer course by Rob from the Netherlands.

Tnx and hope you put SXM on!
Yvonne (Sinkelservice)
